In 2012, PGEI recommended to APC a prospective, frontier and undeveloped geothermal area located in Northern Mindanao. Due to its proximity to the developed and producing EDC Mt. Apo geothermal project, APC considered the new prospect areas for application of a GSC with the DOE. Late 2013, a GSC was awarded by the DOE to APC to explore and evaluate the Mt. Sibulan-Kapatagan Geothermal Prospect, and the Mt. Talomo-Taco Geothermal Prospect.
Literature studies related to both prospects were done in 2014. Preparation for LGU, NCIP and local government permitting to conduct field verification covered most of the rest of 2014 and 2015. Up to this time, permitting activities are still on-going, with PGEI assisting in the procedures.
