1. India
For the first time in 12 years, PGEI embarked in foreign consultancy though for a short term only. PGEI was hired by O&M Solutions Private Limited for technical collaboration in conducting a pre-feasibility study of potential geothermal sites in India. The sites are located in the states of Himachal Pradesh and Assam in the northern and northeastern region of India. The study areas consist of: 1) two (2) hot spring areas in Parbati District of Himachal Pradesh, and 2) four (4) well clusters in the Main Production Area of Assam Oilfield. Abandoned oil and gas wells in Assam are being considered for repurposing to geothermal application. The project commenced with a kick off meeting on 19th of March 2024 and was concluded with the presentation of report on 13th of May 2024. Both events were held in New Delhi at the office of the project owner Oil India Limited (OIL), a company under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India. Part of the agreement was a reconnaissance visit which was done from 2nd to 16th of April.
2. HAWAII
During the first quarter of 2025, PGEI was fortunate to have acquired a short-term foreign consultancy agreement with WAIKA CONSULTING, LLC, a Hawaii-based company tasked to document the road map for a 50-100 MWe geothermal development in Hawaii. PGEI was engaged by WAIKA to provide a detailed technical write-up describing the geothermal project development stages (i.e., Exploration, Regulatory and Permitting, Commercial Development, and Investment Decision-making) according to global best practices. We were able to deliver our commitment on time and to the satisfaction of WAIKA. This also opens the window for PGEI to offer technical services in the subsequent implementation of the geothermal development road map.
